Welding a quadhelix appliance
From a welding point of view, this appliance can be produced quickly, reliably and stably, similar to the aforementioned lingual arch. The prerequisite for this is a gap-free bending of the wires/locks to the bands, then the weld is relatively easy to produce.
As with other devices in which prefabricated bands are used, it is recommended that the bands have no contact to the model ind the area of the intended joint weld for the locks. This can be done by waxing up beforehand or by grinding after model fabrication.
In this way, the risk of accidentally perforating the bands can be minimized, see also here in the middle of the page: “Welding on industrial molar bands”.
When working on bands on a model, it is advisable to work with welding times that tend to be shorter, e.g. with a pulse duration of no more than 1 – 2 milliseconds.
As always, we start with a freshly ground electrode.
