Surface repair with the welding machine

Surface repair with a welding machine is an effective method of repairing damaged metal parts and restoring them to their original condition. In these articles, you will learn how to carry out various repair work on surfaces using a welding machine. We will also show you how to use your Lampert welding machine optimally and how to achieve a professional result on the weld seam itself

Surface repair with build-up welding

With a Lampert welding machine, you can repair defects in almost any surface. All you need is a filler wire of the same or similar alloy, the correct parameter setting and basic knowledge of the layer structure for build-up welding. Whether scratches, notches or embossed stamps, a Lampert welding machine can fill depressions of almost any size and depth with filler material. With the appropriate post-treatment of grinding and polishing, the defect in the surface can be invisibly repaired in most cases.

Our welding examples show the welded surface before processing, so that you can get a good impression of the performance of build-up welding using Lampert welding equipment.

Edge repair on metal parts

Sharp edges wear over time with corresponding mechanical stress. However, similar to surface repairs, the edge can be restored and returned to its original condition by means of build-up welding.

The examples show workpieces of different alloys whose worn edges have been restored with lead wire, in each case before post-treatment of the edge by grinding and polishing.

Our tests show that repaired edges have the same resistance to mechanical stress as the original edge of the material. The decisive factor here is the selection of the correct matching filler wire.

Older and valuable metal nameplates and lettering in particular can often no longer be easily replaced, as spare parts are no longer available. At the same time, they are often of high material or sentimental value. We will show you how you can repair a nameplate using build-up welding and restore it to its original condition.

Welding the surface of joints and seams to perfection is not always easy either. We show tips and advice on how to optimally prepare, execute and also close joints using a Lampert welding machine
