Welding the raspatorium

The raspatorium is a surgical tool for scraping soft tissue from bone. We will show you how such a tool can be reliably welded using our high-precision micro TIG welding process in production and repair. Other surgical tools can also be welded in the same way – with minimal heat input and minimal structural changes.

Inserting the handle into the tool

In the first step, the handle is inserted into the attachment of the tool with as little play as possible. The precision and accuracy of fit of the individual parts is particularly important here.

Welding the handle to the tool

The seam between the handle section and the tool attachment is welded cleanly all around. We recommend a power setting of 50-70% and a pulse duration of 6-8 ms on the Micro Arc Welder.

The more regularly and precisely the spot welds are overlapped, the better the appearance of the result. In any case, the heat-affected zone and thus the distortion in the material remains extremely low.

Grinding and polishing the raspatorium

During post-processing, the weld seam between the handle and tool is ground and polished. This makes the weld seam invisible and prevents tissue and dirt from adhering to this transition when the raspatorium is used. This also greatly simplifies cleaning and disinfection of the raspatorium.
